SUMMER 2021 UPDATE
SHIP 100 is part of the 2021 National Flagship!
We are pleased to announce that Sea Scout Ship Southwinds 100 has received one of the highest accolades in Sea Scouting! We have been awarded a spot in the BoatUS National Flagship Fleet. While we didn’t win the Flagship position itself, we were one of three other top Sea Scout Ships in the nation to be placed in the Fleet.
The Scouts worked super hard last year to get all of the requirements completed for National Flagship over and above their normal Scouting Journey to Execellence, for which they had a perfect score. Amid the pandemic they were able to complete community service, recruit, and have lots of sailing and a Florida sailing trip last year. Our young adults are awesome to work with, and they’re inspiring in so many ways. Our Ship continues to impress, not only in the Atlanta Area Council, but now nationwide!
Check out the link below. We are mentioned as
the first of the Fleet about 2/3rds down.
WE TAKE SAFETY SERIOUSLY
In Sea Scouts you’ll learn water safety, lifesaving skills and first aid so you can be ready for life’s challenges. Our leaders are trained in water safety, situational awareness and safe boating and are fully background checked and trained for their leadership position.
WE LIKE THE WATER
As a High Adventure Boy Scouts of America activity, Sea Scouts love to take to the water. We are on the water at most meetings during the summer months learning sailing skills, small boat handling and training other Scouts at local area sailing merit badges. We are also launching a SCUBA program that will train our Scouts and leaders to be certified in SCUBA.
Join us! Let your adventure begin!
WHAT WE DO
We provide an incredible Scouting BSA experience
Sea Scouts BSA is designed for young men and women age 14-21 wanting to adventure in the ways of the sea. We teach this through classroom time, on the water sailing and fun, high adventures in distant places. Sea Scouts always has and always will be a co-ed adventure. Scouts as young as 12 can join Ship 100’s Midshipmen program if they are in an active Troop and have the rank of First Class (there are a few other prerequisites). Ship 100 meets on most Wednesdays at Cushing Park, Canton, GA from 6:30 until around 8:30. Come join in the fun, click below! Other local ships include Ship 22 (Gainesville), Ship 117 (Buchanan) and Ship 2020 (Acworth). These other ships meet at their respective Charter Organizations. See the link below for more information on other area Ships.

ABOUT SHIP 100
The Story of Leadership
Established in the 2000’s, Ship 100 was started to bring a different flavor of Scouting to our local youth. With Lake Allatoona and Lake Lanier being wonderful local bodies of water, it made sense to start the Ship. Our leadership over the years has been our strongest advantage. Most of our leaders are life-long sailors, scouters and have been trained to the highest degree possible within the BSA and on the water.
WHERE SHIP 100 MEETS
Ship 100 is sponsored by Southwinds 100 and Southwinds Sailing Club. Ship 100 meets at Cushing park in Canton, GA most every Wednesday night starting at 6:30pm.
